Peony Mixed Bridal Bouquet
I couldn't resist using this picture which looks like a beautiful bride holding an enormous bouquet. It perfectly depicts the wonderful abundance of spring flowers especially the peony.
A bridal bouquet of this size is not one I would recommend. As a matter of fact, a bridal bouquet of this magnitude is probably too big for anyone unless you are a giant. She may actually be standing behind one of her centerpieces admiring the peonies. We may never know.
Peonies in a Bowl and a Teapot
But, peonies are now in bloom. The season is from May to June. You can get them as cut flowers at other times of the year, but this is when the prices go down and you can get them locally for a bit less.
Peonies are not cheap, but they are worth every scent cent!
Peony Centerpieces
Some varieties of peonies are fragrant. Some are not. If you are planning to use this many peonies in a room where people will be eating, you may want to opt for an unscented variety.
White Peonies In A Mixed Flower Arrangement
Peonies work well with other flowers in a flower arrangement. But don't cram them too tightly in a vase, because the blooms are huge and need room to open.
I love peonies used alone in a bouquet or an flower arrangement. Roses, lisianthus and even hydrangea look great with them especially when they are of similar colors.
Peonies In A Glass
Peonies are so large headed you could place one stem in a glass and line a group of them down the center of your table for a simple yet elegant centerpiece. But don't just save them for special occasions.
Carlos Mota wrote a great book called Flowers: Chic and Cheap. Though peonies are never cheap, he has loads of pictures of peony arrangements which may inspire you. You can read my review here.
What do you think about peonies?

One of my favorite flowers! And I really don't care what color...love them all. Always so jealous of those that can grow them. Can you imagine going out and gathering an arm full of peonies for your house? Heavenly...

I'm with you Amy. I love peonies anytime, anywhere. I bought a bunch of deep magenta peonies for the shop once that took my breath away. Haven't seen them since. I'd like to get to know all about them.
