Kate's Bridal Bouquet
I thought Kate looked absolutely stunning at her royal wedding today. And that her bridal bouquet was perfect for the wedding dress she wore.
I've been reading online about people who feel her bouquet was not grand enough. That it was too small! Not regal!
As a floral designer, I'm always interested in the relationship between the dress and the flowers. The bridal bouquet, royal or otherwise, shouldn't overpower or take away from the dress.
That's why I feel Kate's dress and her bridal bouquet were in perfect harmony. The dress walked that delicate line between being both modern and from the past.
The teardrop-shaped bridal bouquet Kate carried was reminiscent of a vintage bouquet. The size, however, made it contemporary.
She didn't need a giant, fuddy duddy, overly elaborate, gargantuan bridal bouquet that weighed 10 pounds. She just didn't.
Designed by Shane Connolly, the bridal bouquet contained lily-of-the-valley, myrtle, ivy, sweet william and hyacinth. All locally grown. To me that made it even more special.
What's type of bridal bouquet do you think Kate should have carried at the royal wedding?
