Has a cashier ever given you too much change and you returned it? Ever told someone at the checkout counter that they forgot to charge you for something?
Everyday we have the opportunity to do something extraordinary. To do the right thing just because it's right. Imagine a world where everyone was on a mission to simply do the right thing. What an amazing place this would be!
At our flower shop, all floral arrangements are beautifully wrapped no matter how much our customers spend. That's right. If they spend $150 or $19.99 they get the exact same packaging. Why? Simply because it's the right thing to do.
Every customer wants the flower recipient to feel special. Why should they be denied the opportunity to give a flower arrangement that really looks great just because they have less money to spend?
Some might argue that that's not good business. I disagree for the following reasons:
- Satisfied customers spread the word about your business.
- People on the street see our customers with their flower arrangements and want to know where they were purchased.
- When that customer is ready to spend more money, they'll go back to your business.
Doing the right thing will always come back to you. It may not be the same day or in the same way, but when you least expect it....
What have you done lately that you would consider doing the right thing?
